Created in 1944, The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) is one of North America’s oldest organizations devoted to the specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology.  The Society is a non-profit professional organization with its national office in Ottawa, Canada.  Its membership includes over 3,000 obstetricians and gynaecologists as well as general practitioners, researchers, nurses, midwives and other health care providers involved in women’s healthcare.

The Society embraces values and beliefs that lead to improved patient care including the facilitation of change in the healthcare system at the provincial and national level. Now in its 64th year, it's main activities include physician education, public education, lobbying, advocacy on behalf of women and their families. With its extensive educational programs and published clinical guidelines,  the SOGC has provided the reference for standards of obstetrical care for healthcare providers and the public. The SOGC has been exemplary in the development of risk management programs and played a leadership role in the provision of a national obstetrical patient safety program.  In addition the SOGC also recognizes the importance of pursuing excellence in international women’s health, and works in collaboration with international stakeholders toward the reduction of maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide.

Together with their brokerage, HIROC Insurance Services Limited, and management company, HIROC Management Limited, provide subscribers with a comprehensive range of insurance services, including industry leading risk management programs and education, innovative insurance products and unparalleled claims management expertise. The Reciprocal was founded in 1987 to provide healthcare organizations with a stable, financially sound and practical alternative to meet their liability insurance needs. Starting with 52 hospitals in Ontario, the Reciprocal has expanded to encompass healthcare facilities across Canada. Hospitals, nursing homes, community health centres, home care and other healthcare organizations representing over 500 facilities in Canada make up the more than 350 HIROC subscribers.

The Risk Management and Patient Safety Institute (RM&PSI) is a national leader in clinical risk management practices and patient safety programs for healthcare institutions and providers. They are focused on clinical risk reduction, quality patient outcomes and education. The RM&PSI is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians, and is an accredited provider of nursing continuing education. RM&PSI, in partnership with Salus Global Corporation,  is the only group other than Salus to market the  MORE^OB program to U.S.  hospitals and health care systems. RM&PSI also serves as the exclusive service provider of the MORE^OB program within the U.S. health care market.
